House

The house

Our holiday apartment is located in a representative and listed town house in the small town of Kyritz, also known to some as “Kyritz an der Knatter”, in Ostprignitz-Ruppin, in Brandenburg. It’s a 90 min drive up north from Berlin.

The town house, built in 1912 by a bank, is located directly on the charming town square of Kyritz with a view over the beautiful 200-year-old oak tree and the old town hall of Kyritz.

We have made it our mission to renovate this unique house carefully and are very happy to welcome our guests here in person.

The way to the holiday apartment leads through the beautiful staircase, which was renovated between 2023 and 2024 and converted it back to its original color scheme with the help of a restorer. The beautiful blue wall tiles, the stair banister, as well as the vestibule with its high, elegant wooden banister and the oak entrance doors are true to the original and have fortunately been preserved over all these years. A special gem are the original, elaborately crafted and designed Art Nouveau glass windows in the stairwell.
On the ground floor there is a bicycle room with 4 beautiful bikes for your to use and our charming, green backyard which invites you to barbecue and relax in the sun.

The 200 year old oak tree

To mark the victory over Napoleon, four oak trees were planted in 1814, of which only one survived the subsequent city fires and today forms the center of the market square as the “Peace oak”. The over 200-year-old oak tree is the namesake of our apartments. With its beautiful and powerful growth it has a calming and impressive effect at the same time and makes the place very special – a refuge of peace and contemplation. In summer, a few benches under the oak tree invite you to enjoy an ice cream from the nearby ice cream café or simply watch the quiet idleness on the market square.

Kyritz

Kyritz is a charming and quiet town, with many beautiful old houses. Opposite to St. Oak you can see the striking historic red brick town hall. During the day you can enjoy the tranquil small town life and in the evening it is particularly quiet. During hot days, you can buy a few scoops of ice cream at the market square and enjoy it under the cooling shade of the oak tree. A local weekly market takes place on the market square on Tuesdays and Fridays. There is a small organic food store within walking distance and of course all the large supermarkets are also represented in Kyritz.
By bike you can reach the lake in 15 minutes. Here you can rent pedal boats and rowing boats or simply look for a nice, quiet place and take a swim.
